Breaking the Barriers: The Triumphs and Challenges of as a Deaf Entrepreneur.

As a deaf entrepreneur, my journey has been anything but easy. But despite the many obstacles that have come my way, I have managed to push through and emerge victorious.

My name is Roger Alex Sanchez Jr., and I have faced adversity since I was a child. I became deaf and had my right leg amputated due to my premature birth.  Despite the odds, I refused to let these challenges define me or hold me back from achieving my dreams.

I have always had a passion for entrepreneurship, and after graduating from college, I embarked on my journey to start an online business. However, as a deaf individual, I faced many challenges that hearing entrepreneurs do not typically encounter.

Communication was a significant obstacle for me. I had to rely on lip-reading and sign language to communicate, also with video phone technologies, to communicate with potential clients, investors, and partners. This added an extra layer of complexity to my business dealings, but I never let it stop me.

Another challenge that I faced was the lack of understanding and awareness about deaf entrepreneurship. Many people doubted my ability to succeed in business, and some even wrote me off before giving me a chance. However, I used their doubt as fuel to prove them wrong and show them that being deaf does not limit me or my capabilities.

One of the key factors that helped me overcome these challenges was the support of the deaf and hearing communities. I connected with other entrepreneurs who shared my experiences and challenges and became a part of a network of like-minded individuals. This supportive community not only helped me navigate the hardships of entrepreneurship but also offered me a sense of belonging and empowerment.

Having great mentors offered me wonderful guidance and support, assisting me in navigating the challenges and opportunities of starting and running a business. They can provide advice on important aspects of entrepreneurship, such as developing business plans, securing funding, and overcoming barriers related to communication or accessibility.

I also took matters into my own hands by advocating for greater support and resources for deaf entrepreneurs. I worked to educate policymakers and business leaders about the unique challenges that deaf entrepreneurs face and advocated for more funding, mentorship, and training opportunities for deaf business owners.

My journey as a deaf entrepreneur has taught me several important lessons. I have learned that resilience, perseverance, and a strong support system are crucial ingredients for success. I have also learned the importance of advocating for yourself and others who face similar challenges.

As I look back on my journey, I am grateful for every obstacle I have overcome. Each hurdle has made me stronger and more determined to achieve my goals. And as a deaf entrepreneur, I am proud to serve as an inspiration to others who may face similar obstacles along their own entrepreneurial journey.
